Innovation, meant as an underlying and continuative practice rather than as a temporary exercise, is the main feature of Finmeccanica's industrial action.
 
Designed as an unconventional engine for value innovation, the Mindsh@re project and the technical communities that make the basic unit up are the tool to solidify this path.
 
This is the constantly developing result of a route which starting from 2003 has witnessed the early experiences of knowledge sharing among companies and is now (through the increasing interaction of people, technologies and skills) experimenting an innovation governance capable of producing value thanks to authentic integration, spread at group level, among research and development, marketing and strategy.
 
Real exchange junctions of shared knowledge, there are seven technology communities today, also this is a growing figure, which concern specific subjects though distinctly transversal such as Radar, Homeland security, Software & Capability Maturity Model Integration, Materials, Simulation for training, Integrated Environment for Design & Development Community, Logistics & Services.
 
Each of these junctions, and those which are yet to come, are required to be the engine of an intelligence culture able to give value to innovation, as the cooperative and interconnected animator of a network involving the other Mindsh@re communities, the group companies, the market, clients, complementary suppliers and research centres.
 
As permanent design centres of intelligence and knowledge, Mindsh@re communities constitute the clearest and most tangible expression of the industrial holding size Finmeccanica is aspiring to achieve with recent decisions.
 
The role played by these transversal structures in individual companies was particularly instrumental in allowing the Finmeccanica Group to be announced as the Best Innovator 2006, hence being acknowledged for its leadership in the culture of innovation.
