Finmeccanica at InnoTrans 2008

23.09 - 28.09.2008

Berlin

The German company InnoTrans is having another international railway transport and technology trade show. From 23-28 September the much anticipated event is being organised by Messe Berlin "turning the Berlin trade show grounds into the biggest railway station in the world."

In reality, the trade show has been going for little more than 10 years. The biennial event's rapid growth and success can be seen by the ever increasing number of visitors (35.686 in 2002 increasing to 64.422 in 2006, while the grounds grew from 30.000 to 50.000 square metres), leaving one to predict another successful exposition for the 2008 edition. It features international growth in the field, and provides clear subdivisions between key sectors in railway technology: internal, infrastructure, public transport, tunnel construction, and transport information technology.

Finmeccanica, one of the leading international figures in the railway transport sector and related business - from invention to the design and planning stage, the production and manufacturing of trains, to traffic management and signal systems, lines and routes as well as high speed train networks - will have a strong presence at the Innotrans tradeshow along with AnsaldoBreda, Ansaldo STS (which consolidate its presence this year with the launch of the company Ansaldo STS Deutschland, set up with the scope of supplying signal equipment for the German high speed train network) and SELEX Communications.

The parent company of the group and associated businesses are open to the public (business visitors only for the first four days, with the tradeshow open to all the following weekend) in an enormous 400 metre stand exhibiting products and systems like, to mention but a few, AnsaldoBreda's new V250 high speed train, the ACS Multistation by Ansaldo STS, and SELEX Communications' communication equipment RaCE 2300.

Finmeccanica's direct presence signifies business unification and cohesion, as well as the Group's ever growing presence and leadership in the Railway sector, in which companies such as SELEX Integrated Systems (railway and train safety and security), Elsag (electronic payment) and Telespazio (onboard Internet) contribute to form a system offering ample variety, advanced technology and strong integration.
