Sustainability
Aims and critical factors
The progressive integration of questions of sustainability in all company processes is a strategic goal for Finmeccanica, a new way of thinking that must encourage us to take into consideration additional elements when evaluating our decisions. Planning, production, sourcing, human resources and external relations: all the elements in our “chain of value” will gradually be directed by this new tendency towards sustainability.
We are taking on a specific obligation towards the community to make an increasingly concrete effort in this sense. The first step towards sustainability is a full understanding of what it means to take the expectations of our stakeholders into serious consideration. For this reason we intend to be open and transparent, so as to create trust in the people we are dealing with.
Publishing our first Certified Sustainability Report actually helps to strengthen this feeling of trust, allowing us the chance to explain our choices and actions. For this reason we will make an effort to always state the principles and rules behind us, and give an account of the impact, both positive and negative, that derives from coherent application of those rules. Our audience will then be free to judge our sustainability performance, based on increasingly full and transparent information.
We are the first to be aware of the critical factors that are inherent in a route of this kind. It is a process of long-term change, that has to take into account a number of variables. We are well aware of what it means to manage complex situations and implement a new way of thinking across all the board in all the companies in our Group. For this reason we prefer to describe the actions taken and the results achieved, rather than making impressive announcements.
