Society

“We develop and exchange innovation and technology all over the world. We bring skills and expertise to various countries, aim to share values and know-how with the communities in which we operate, and help preserve the local cultural heritage in a responsible manner.”

A company is not a self-sufficient organism; it has continuous relations, both formal and informal, with the social, economic and environmental context in which it operates. That is why Finmeccanica also builds its competitiveness on synergy with the local communities of which it feels in a certain sense to be part.

Everywhere we operate we are considered to be an important stakeholder, because we bring activities, create skilled employment, invest in our people and provide work for a significant network of related industries.

We are fully aware of the expectations generated by our presence in an area. We do our best to fulfil these expectations by taking an active part: sharing our expertise and helping draw up policies for local competitivity, investing in training and protecting our workforce, supporting cultural and social initiatives.

But Finmeccanica’s involvement does not stop at local level. We are also in contact with public bodies at regional, national and community level.

At each of these levels we do our best to promote economic growth that is compatible with social and environmental needs, focusing firmly on innovation.

For example, at regional level we are often involved, particularly in Italy, in the work of Technological Districts. These are partnerships set up between institutional and economic bodies in an area with the aim of promoting research and technology transfer operations.

At national and European level we are actively involved as stakeholders in drawing up strategies, plans and legislation, particularly on subjects such as sustainable mobility, industrial investments, safety on the workplace and environmental protection.

We also take part in national and international research groups and networks, helping to increase the knowledge base that will allow us to solve the many complex problems faced by modern society, through technological innovation.
