Code of Ethics
A wide-ranging, articulated organisation like Finmeccanica has a significant role in the market, economic development and the scientific and technological progress not only of the business areas in which it operates, but also more generally speaking in the development and progress of the world in which we live.
This is because we are present in extremely delicate strategic sectors, on which the future development of modern societies depends. By this we are not only referring to the aerospace and defence industries. The same thing also applies to the electronics, information technology, transportation and energy sectors.
There is a great responsibility resting on our shoulders, both to our partners and to the context within which we work. We are aware of the fact that everything we do has significant impacts that go well beyond our reference area.
It is for this very reason, as well as to comply in full with legal requirements, that we feel duty bound to take on ethical obligations and responsibilities towards our stakeholders, both in the way we do business and more generally in all company activities.
The result of all the above is contained in our Code of Ethics, which provides clear details of the principles and values behind the way Finmeccanica behaves in a wide range of areas: from the prevention of conflicts of interest (both company and individual) to the clarity of the accounting system and information provided; from employee selection policies to conservation of the cultural heritage; from relations with authorities and public administrations to those with political and trade union organisations; from protection of the environment to safeguarding privacy.
Complying with laws, good management practice and transparency, good faith, trust and co-operation with stakeholders, are the ethics upon which Finmeccanica bases itself in order to compete in an efficient, honest way on the market, increasing the satisfaction of its customers, adding value for its shareholders and developing the expertise and professional skills of its human resources.
The Code of Ethics is not simply a collection of principles, but a genuine management tool. It is the subject of specific training operations for all employees and associates. And a dedicated internal control structure has been implemented to ensure its application. This is the Audit Management, which responds directly to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
To get a better idea of the rules upon which we base ourselves, we suggest you download and read the Code of Ethics, which can be found in the Investor Relations section.
Here and now, as regards ethical and social questions, it should be stressed that:
- Finmeccanica does not manufacture, and is in no way involved in the manufacture or sale of, light-weight, non-conventional or controversial arms (e.g. cluster bombs, land mines, chemical and/or bacteriological bombs, and depleted uranium bullets).
- In the majority of the Countries in which the Group is present, current legislation guarantees the respect of human rights. In those Countries where legislation in this sense is deficient, the Group applies human rights management standards equivalent to those in force in their own home countries.
