Sustainability
Finmeccanica and the Environment
"For Finmeccanica, natural resources and energy sources are precious assets that must be used responsibly. We promote environmental education so that people become the main source of responsible behaviour. We expand our understanding of the impact of our operations and our products in order to adopt the most effective technical and management solutions for reducing them."
Protection of the environment is one of the main pillars of the idea of sustainability. For some time now Finmeccanica has been working to integrate management of environmental aspects with its own business objectives. This commitment has become even more visible from 2005 onwards, when the first Group Environmental Report was drawn up.
Environmental accounting was integrated in the Finmeccanica Sustainability Report for the first time in 2009, and in 2010 this has become the Certified Sustainability Report.
Ours has been a journey of communication and transparency towards stakeholders that continues through the years and is gradually perfected in line with the many needs of the market and the community, using continual research and the best technology to create value and safeguard the environment.
Our efforts are centred around the increasingly efficient use of natural resources and a reduction in the impact of our activities, together with promotion of virtuous behaviour.
Environmental sustainability: our goals
- Continuous improvement of environmental performance
- Identification of areas for environmental improvement
- Control and reduction of the use of hazardous substances
- Energy saving
- Minimisation of waste production
Finmeccanica looks to the future, strong in its expertise and aware of its economic and social role on the global market, and with the understanding the excellence is synonymous with sustainability.
