Sustainability
Renewable energy sources and energy efficiency
CO2 emissions and energy consumption. Among the environmental questions currently under discussion, energy is without doubt the one around which global attention is most firmly centred. Although on the one hand the demand for energy is increasing, on the other there is a need to produce it from cleaner sources and in a more efficient manner.
At Finmeccanica we are involved in developing technology that will allow us to face up to these two new challenges with success. But our commitment does not end here: we consider our company and our community of people to be the primary context in which to solve those problems that we are offering to solve for society as a whole.
For this reason we are working strongly in four directions:
- management and rationalisation of the Group’s energy expenditure
- management of the Group energy efficiency plan, with the aim of improving the energy performance of our production sites by investing in new technology.
- production of our own energy, and promotion of renewable energy sources
- promotion of an energy efficiency culture both within the company, through the Energy Managers Community and special training days, and in our own homes, by negotiating agreements that will allow Group employees to invest in small domestic systems for the production of renewable energy and improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
To find out more about what Finmeccanica is doing to encourage energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, we suggest you read the chapter “Finmeccanica Group's commitment to the environment” in the 2010 Sustainability Report.
