Telespazio
Telespazio is Finmeccanica’s key operator in satellite navigation and localisation services, a role confirmed by its participation in EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System) and Galileo, the European satellite navigation programme that will see the launch of 30 satellites.
One of the two control centres that will manage this constellation has been built at the Fucino Space Centre. Telespazio also supplied the launch services from Fucino, and is currently taking part in the GIOVE-B mission, developed by ESA for the in-orbit validation (IOV) of the technological solutions that will be used on board the Galileo satellites.
Furthermore, the company will supply the in-orbit operational and integrated logistics services for the IOV phase of the Galileo programme, when the first four operational satellites of the constellation are launched.
Telespazio is helping to create the Galileo Test Range in Rome – the technological infrastructure that will support the Galileo system, applications and equipment – and is co-ordinating the development of initiatives and experimental projects at European level in the field of aerial navigation and monitoring services for hazardous goods tracking and tracing.
