Selex Galileo

The Silent Acquisition and Surveillance System (SASS) unit is a panoramic head developed for the passive IRST mission. 

Operating simultaneously in MWIR and LWIR spectral bands, it detects and tracks air and surface targets with full 360° horizontal coverage providing IR maps of the scene. 

It has been developed for the Italian aircraft carrier CAVOUR and is used for the Italian FREMM.
