Patrol Support System (PSS)

PSS (Patrol Support System) is a multi-function, handheld device that draws on biometric technology to support territorial monitoring and control operations. 

The PSS is useful in law enforcement, for border control activities, controlling access to restricted areas and the verification of electronic documents, and for civil applications, including population census and personal identification for the distribution of food and money aid. 

The PSS performs operator authentication using biometric technology to restrict access to the device, as well as identifying individuals by means of fingerprint recognition, with matching of biometric data captured against a fingerprint hot-list stored in the PSS, or by comparison with a remote AFIS system.

Other functionalities/modules: geographical positioning, reading electronic identity documents, optical character recognition(with its built-in video camera and wide/infrared LED illuminators), electronic signature certificate management.
