Drawing on Selex ES’s experience in optical character recognition, video surveillance and Information Technology, Auto-Detector identifies vehicles which have been stolen or are subject to police control, using innovative technologies to continuously read the license

plates of parked and moving vehicles (on both sides of the street and moving in both directions).

License plates are recognized by means of two micro infra red television cameras mounted on the roof of patrol vehicles. 

The system developed by Selex ES provides security operators involved in territorial control activities with an effective working tool, by enabling them to monitor vehicles more efficiently. 

Auto-Detector can read the license plates of vehicles travelling at high speed (up to 220 kph) and, thanks to the infra red illumination system, in all ambient lighting conditions.
