From Alenia Aermacchi, the first M-346 for Singapore

Alenia Aermacchi – a Finmeccanica company – yesterday presented the first of 12 M-346 advanced trainer aircraft to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), ordered in 2010 with a contract worth around €250 million.


Six aircraft have been bought by the Italian Air Force, and 30 to the Israeli Air Force, a contract worth around €500 million which came into effect at the start of the year. 

The roll-out ceremony took place at Alenia Aermacchi’s facility in Venegono Superiore (VA), Italy, and was attended by Chang Cheow Teck, President, ST Aerospace, the prime contractor, Giuseppe Giordo, CEO of Alenia Aermacchi, general Roberto Corsini, Deputy Chief of Staff, Italian Air Force, and general Domenico Esposito, (General Director of the General Directorate for Air Armaments) as well as other key representatives from Industry and from the Armed Forces of the two countries. The Singapore Air Force is one of the most efficient and technologically advanced in the area.
