Cultural Activities
In order for there to be genuine growth, it is essential that the creation of industrial and economic value be accompanied by the protection of beauty, and sometimes its discovery.
It is starting with this conviction, with the ideal that company commitment and technological excellence must go hand in hand with a concrete, conspicuous presence in society, that Finmeccanica watches with the mindfulness of a participant over matters of culture and art.
Two very closely related key ideas - tradition and innovation - act as a guiding star to a desire which is reflected in numerous initiatives involving financial backing, or connected with putting forward its own avant-garde abilities, to a plurality of routes open to every field of knowledge.
Exhibitions, restoration enterprises, concerts and festivals combine to describe the variety of ways in which the culture of yesterday and today meet enterprise: the scope of a sphere which is unconstrained in time or discipline, whilst being especially enthusiastic to protect and promote the immense Italian cultural heritage.
Tradition is precisely innovation. Because concerning ourselves with our own history means setting down roots, and therefore strengthening, our drive towards the future.
Turino - 18 May 2009
Thanks to the wide range of its business activities, Finmeccanica also takes part in the Turin International Book Fair - regarded as a very special occasion. Last year, to mark the Group's 60th anniversary, a series of volumes was launched devoted to the people who have made the history of the "company of companies" that Finmeccanica is today. And little by little the series is taking shape in the publishing panorama.
Rome, 26 November 2008
As part of the celebrations for its sixtieth anniversary, Finmeccanica promoted a conference on "Science 400 years after Galileo Galilei. The value and ethical complexity of contemporary scientific and technical research" held in Rome the 26th of November at the Complesso Monumentale Santo Spirito in Sassia (Borgo Santo Spirito, 1) from 16.30 to 19.00 hrs. The conference took place in the presence of His Eminence Cardinal ...
Milan, 13 November 2008
It's hardly a novelty for Finmeccanica to turn its attention to the world of culture and art. But it certainly is unusual, and particularly interesting, to find the Group supporting an initiative that brings together two different art forms. This was the case with the traditional fund-raising concert for Milan's Diocesan Museum, in collaboration with the Teatro alla Scala opera house. The event took place on November 13, and the two prestigious ...
Bitonto, 11 October 2008
If it is true that "all roads lead to Rome", thanks to the extraordinary transportation network built by ancient Romans to ensure continued expansion of their empire, then it is equally reasonable to assume that the same roads also lead away from Rome to other places. One of these, the Via Romea, or the southern portion of the Via Francigena, was especially popular in medieval times when the Roman empire was ...
Presentation of Enrico Albareto's Biography
Genoa, 9 October 2008
Keeping the relationship between memory and the future - the way Finmeccanica has chosen to celebrate its sixtieth anniversary - is not just a question of abstract corporate philosophy. In other words, drawing strength from its roots is first and foremost a question of realising that what really counts is human beings. Therefore, it is important to examine the enormous heritage the Group has, and to identify the best experiences ...
"Le Vie Francigene del Sud" project gets underway
Naples, 4 july 2008
On July 4, Naples was the setting for the conference entitled Le Vie Francigene del Sud sponsored by Finmeccanica and "Banco di Napoli". The conference marked the start of the project by the same name which sets out to rediscover the traditional itineraries used by pilgrims from the late Middle Ages onwards, linking the most important shrines in Christendom. The project forms part of the many cultural initiatives to ...
Naples, 2 July 2008
To say that the July 2 concert in Piazza del Plebiscito, Naples, was a symbolic event is putting it lightly. Presenting not just one orchestra but two, uniting them under the baton of one of the most important conductors in the world, and having them perform one of the greatest compositions ever written, before an audience of more than 10,000 people, was not an everyday occasion. What's more, the fact that the concert took place ...

Fulbright-Finmeccanica scholarship for a two-year master's course in the USA
Building one's future, especially for young people, is probably one of the greatest adventures that life can offer. There are few more exciting things than imagining one's life and then setting out to achieve it, investing hope and energy to make one's dreams come true. Building the future is also Finmeccanica's task to some extent - a path naturally determined by its inclination towards high technology and everything that is new.
