Finmeccanica at the exhibition “Regioni e Testimonianze d’Italia”

Friday April 1st saw the official opening of the stands in Valle Giulia housing the exhibition “Regioni e Testimonianze d’Italia”, a free-entrance event that, from April 2nd to July 3rd will be on show at the sites where the 1911 Jubilee was held: the Vittoriano Complex, Palazzo di Giustizia, the Castel Sant’Angelo area, and Leonardo Da Vinci Airport, which was inaugurated in 1961 during celebration of the first Centenary of the Unity of Italy.

Finmeccanica is happy to be present at this exhibition, which forms part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Unity of Italy, with a display that relates the company’s history, illustrating its present and imagining a future in which it continues to play a leading role in development of the Country and in spreading highly prized values throughout the world: high technology, skill and knowledge of various types, competitivity and culture.

The stand, which is located in the pavilion at Piazza José de San Martin in Valle Giulia, is a virtual trail that leads the visitor, in an area of 150 square metres, in a journey that relives – starting in 1861 – the salient moments in the history of united Italy, entwined with the birth and development of the companies that have gone to form its industrial base.

The area is organised in three sections – past, present and future – that illustrate the most important phases in the economic, social and cultural growth of Italy, underlining the role played in this process by industry in general and by Finmeccanica in particular, which has taken up the heritage of an illustrious past and turned it into the foundations for its current state, which marks it as one of the driving forces for the Country’s future.

The stand was inaugurated by Giuliano Amato, Chairman of the Celebrating Committee, Renata Polverini, Governor for Lazio, and the TV journalist and presenter Bruno Vespa.

Pier Francesco Guarguaglini stressed that “Finmeccanica’s presence at the exhibition is not just a reason for pride and legitimate self-congratulation. It is above all an opportunity to reflect on the deepest roots of our identity and on the elements that have determined our success. We have received a glorious past as our heritage, and we are working every day to protect this immense national patrimony and ensure that it grows still further, providing our contribution in terms of ideas, experience and high technology.

Today, all the Regions of Italy take part in our development: we now have manufacturing sites, research centres and trained technicians throughout the country. It is thanks to the combination of these different skills, which are now joined, that we have been able to grow, face the challenge of innovation and win, achieving significant economic and technological results and becoming, in recent years, a competitive group that is open to other cultures and to new markets”.
