The high investment and the various initiatives set up in the field of health and safety of those working within the Group are clear: in Finmeccanica   it is a priority to protect integrity and welfare of the people, considering also the technological complexity and the plant of production processes that take place within each of its different realities.

And therefore there are many initiatives undertaken by the Group, aiming at developing ithe employees and all stakeholders involved , be they suppliers or collaborators, the utmost care and awareness on the issue of health and safety at work.

But in a such complex and articulated industrial context as the one constituted by his various companies, Finmeccanica has not only been oriented towards training needs required by the legislation, but wanted to invest in wider dissemination of a culture of safety collaborating  with everybody involved on issues of prevention and risk management, starting from employees up to union representation.

As a supervision was introduced a special Coordination Committee Health and Safety at Work in 2008, which has the task of developing guidelines, interventions, policies and  standardized procedures at Group level for the continuous improvement of measures to ensure safety. 

Finmeccanica has therefore wanted to activate an effective tool of awareness, sensitization and awareness on health and safety at work, using the opportunity provided by Fondimpresa. The ambition is to open a new chapter in the management of the protection of workers, basing on the internalization of each related value.

But for Finmeccanica dealing with health and safety means a lot more!

It means, to give priority to "welfare" of people, providing innovation services to those who work, from health prevention up to structures and social instruments as a support in everyday life. 

It is with this spirit that periodically a series of initiatives "medical screening" and activities for preventive medicine and health promotion in addition of health protection (surgery and medical check-up) are carried out at Group level in the various operating companies to traditional activities. 

Furthermore, in order to ensure  mothers who work a balance between private and professional life, the Group wanted to set up a range of services to support them. 

Just to mention one example, in Rome at the headquarters of SELEX Sistemi Integrati , a nursery business has been recently established "Nanna Bella", a structure designed in full compliance with the most advanced health standards, hygiene and environmental laws, which offers a service within the territory since it host also children residing in the Municipality of reference. 

"Nanna Bella" is based on an educational model of community care, characterized by three objectives: full integration of the architectural design with the educational design, promotion of quality of life and the creation of network for family support.
