The competitive environment in which Finmeccanica is compared requires a strategy based on differentiation and innovation, where the critical success factors are quality products, service levels and capacity of providing them in the manner and timing requested by the customer.

For this reason the Group has designed and implemented an integrated system of Industrial Knowledge, for developing and enhancing, through a continuous stronghold of "core competencies", the intangible capital which constitutes the main lever to ensure a real competitive advantage for a high-tech reality which is Finmeccanica .

The system called Finmeccanica's Way Industrial Knowledge allows the capitalization and sharing of technical knowledge and management and the dissemination of best practices and excellency in the Group and, in particular:

• Analyzes the distinctive skills of the Group and highlights any need for change and innovation in line with the strategic objectives and business;

• Systematizes in a common framework the best practices, any guidelines and/or international standards and disseminates them throughout  the Group;

• Start up Professional/Practice Community for sharing experiences and best practices and continuous updating of skills, using the most advanced instruments of Community Management (inspired by the web logic 2.0);

• Defines training activities to strengthen skills tailored to the specific gaps identified;

• Identifies and manages the "talents" with the definition of appropriate professional inter-company development paths.

This system, defined for all the principals industrial processes has been applied in recent years through several significant international initiatives aimed at developing the skills of financial and economic management and promoting the application of levers of control and performance measurements (Economics Program 2.0) and methodologies to support the management of contracts and the adoption of best practices of Program / Project Management (Project Management Program - PMP).
