The Finmeccanica’s Research Department has been established to provide the Top Management with appropriate analytical support and updated information on those macroeconomic and geopolitical issues the most relevant for the Company’s business.

Main activities: 

• Occasional Papers: policy papers dealing with issues of strategic interest for both Finmeccanica and Italy;

• European Security and Defense Forum (ESDF): based at Chatham House (London), in partnership with Finmeccanica and with the support of the Italian Istituto Affari Internazionali (Istituto Affari Internazionali - IAI, Rome). The Forum seeks to renew and stimulate the general debate about the meaning and purpose of security and defence policies in the early 21st century. It will investigate the issues relating to international cooperation in security and defence as well as the response to new and emerging threats and challenges;

• Research Community: seminars addressed to external researchers (mainly working in the defence, security and international relations) aimed at strengthening the ties with some of the main Italian think tanks and research institutes;

• Network: the Research Department maintains different collaborations with both national and international research institutes as well as with the Scientific Committee of the Ansaldo Foundation and the Fulbright Programme. It also works in partnership with important and influential consultancy, information and intelligence companies.
